COMPETITIONS
Eastern Area Junior Open Age Banded on Saturday 14th August 2010 at Breckland Leisure Centre, Thetford.
Players are banded in 2 groups according to age on the day.
Group 1 - 8 to 11 year olds, with under 12 technical restrictions.
Group 2 - 12 to 15 year olds.
Cost £10, (closing date 9th August).

Heart of England Open Age Band Championships on Sunday 5th September 2010 at National Indoor Arena, Birmingham.
Players banded by reference to birth year and the event is point scoring for 1st kyu and above.
Band B is 1997 & 1998, band C is 1995 & 1996, band D is 1992 to 1994.
Armlocks allowed in Band C. Armlocks & Strangles allowed in Band D.
Cost £18 + £1 online booking fee (see BJA website calendar of events for online entry form).
Eastern Area Trials now on Saturday 11th September 2010 at Bungay.
This event is to select a squad to represent East Area at British Championships on 9th & 10th October 2010 at Sheffield
Players banded by reference to birth year.
Band A is 1999 & 2000, Band B is 1997 & 1998, band C is 1995 & 1996, band D is 1992 to 1994.
Under 12 Technical Restrictions apply in Band A.
Armlocks only allowed in Band C. Armlocks & Strangles allowed in Band D.

Ipswich Under 20 Open on Sunday 19th September 2010 at Northgate Sports Centre, Ipswich.
Players are banded in groups by reference to age on the day.

British National Age Banded Championships on Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th October 2010 at Ice Sheffield.
Players banded by reference to birth year. Please note there is no Band D or Junior (16-18) at this event.
Pre-Cadets (12-13) born in 1997 & 1998. Cadets (14-15) born in 1995 & 1996.
Strangles only, no armlocks, are allowed by Cadets, (14-15).

Eastern Area Low Grade Open and Dan Grading on Sunday 24th October 2010 at Breckland Leisure Centre, Thetford.
The competition is open to Junior & Senior players and banded in 3 groups as follows:
Group 1 - 8 to 11 year olds up to 3rd mon, red belt, with under 12 technical restrictions.
Group 2 - 12 to 15 year olds up to 6th mon, yellow belt.
Group 3 - aged 16 and over up to 3rd kyu, green belt.
There are no weight bands as players are pooled in a fair manner and all competitors receive a medal.
Cost £6, (closing date 18th October).

Littleport Youth and Senior Open Championships on Sunday 7th November 2010 at Littleport Leisure Centre.
This is a 3 star point scoring event and is followed by a Dan Grading for 1st kyu & above.
Youth section for 14 to 19 year olds, all grades.
Senior Sections for Senior licence holders with 2 grade bands, Novice to 2nd kyu and 1st kyu and above.
Competition entry fee, £15 to enter 1 section, £18 to enter youth and senior sections, (closing date 29th October).
Grading fee, including dan grade levy, is £10 (payable on the day), Booking in at 1pm.
Eastern Area Individual Closed and County Team Championships on Sunday 12th December at Breckland L C, Thetford.

TRAINING
TRAINING TOGETHER – 2010

All at Thetford Sports Centre from 9.30am to 2pm. Mat fee £3 (WCSP, 9.30am to 4pm, mat fee £5).
General Training Together is for all Junior and Senior players wanting to improve skills and provides an excellent
opportunity to train with players from other clubs under the supervision of different coaches.
Training Together Sessions are often attended by England Squad coaches to co-opt promising 12 to 17 year old players
onto the England Squad Program. Invited players are not forced to participate, they have a choice.
Designated WCSP Area Training Together sessions are for players over 9 years old graded 6th mon or above.
ENGLAND SQUAD (formerly WORLD CLASS START PROGRAMME)
England Squad Training dates for Pre-Cadets, Cadets, & Juniors will be released after squad selection in October.
England Squad Area Training on selected Tuesdays at Happidojo, Shelford, Cambs. 8pm to 9.30pm. Mat fee £5.
Next sessions led by David Southby on Tuesdays 14th September, 12th October & 9th November 2010.
England Squad Area Training sessions are not restricted to England Squad players.
Area players over 11 years old and 7th mon can attend.
PROMOTION EXAMINATIONS
PROMOTION TO ALL MON GRADES & KYU GRADES TO 1ST KYU IS NOW THROUGH THE TECHNICAL GRADING SCHEME
NO CHANGE TO PROMOTION EXAMS FROM 1st KYU & WITHIN DAN GRADES WHICH REMAIN COMPETITIVE
AREA AND NATIONAL COMPETITIVE AND TECHNICAL PROMOTION EXAMS - Junior 9th Mon and Senior 1st Kyu & above.
2010 East Area Competitive Gradings for 1st Kyu & Dan grades are at Breckland Leisure Centre, Thetford.
Next grading is on Sunday 24th October at Breckland Leisure Centre, Thetford. Registration is normally at noon on the day.
2010 East Area Competitive Grading for Men & Women 1st Kyu & Dan grades at Littleport Leisure Centre, Littleport
on Sunday 7th November 2010 subject to approval by the Eastern Area Committee.
Grading fee, inclusive of Dan grade levy, is £10 and payable when booking in at 1pm on the day.
The grading follows the Littleport Youth & Senior Open Championships and is open to all 1st kyu & above.
National Promotion Exam on Saturdays 18th September & 6th November 2010
at High Wycombe Judo Centre, Barry Close, High Wycombe, HP12 4JE.
Pre Registration is advised as the cost is £13 if pre registered, or £15 on the day.
Booking in: 9am to 9.30am for all Dan grade men and women, 11am to 11.30 for 1st Kyu men and women.
Candidates for Technical Dan Grading must pre register. Cost is £15 and booking in is at 1pm.
10th April is a guaranteed assessment day (see BJA calendar entry for more information).
NEW TECHNICAL GRADING SCHEME
General Information regarding Technical Grading Scheme.
Techniques up to 9th mon, 4th kyu (orange belt) can be taught and examined by the same qualified official.
Techniques for 10th mon, 3rd kyu (green belt) and above are taught by a qualified coach and examined by a qualified
assessor who cannot be the person who taught the techniques.
Club assessments are on Tuesdays 4th May and 29th June so please speak to Ray or Ros when ready for assessment.
Cost of examination is £7 within the club but additional charges may apply to assessments outside of the club.
Technical Promotions to green belt and higher can be at the club but will normally be at other events.

Littleport Mini Age Bands Invitation on Sunday 6th March 2011 at Littleport Leisure Centre.
Players are banded in 2 groups by reference to age on the day.
Group 1 for 8 and 9 year olds from novice to 6th mon with Under 10 technical restrictions.
Group 2 for 10 and 11 year olds from novice to 9th mon with Under 12 technical restrictions.
