COMPETITIONS
Midlands Under 20 Age Banded on Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th January 2012 at Walsall Campus.
There are 4 categories: Age band A for players born 2000 & 2001, Age band B for players born 1998 & 1999, Age Band C for players born 1996 & 1997 and Age band D for players born 1993 to 1995. Bands B & D are on Saturday, Bands A & C are on Sunday.
Cost, 20.00 (closing date 16th January).

Ipswich Senior Open on Sunday 4th March 2012 at Northgate Sports Centre, Sidegate Lane, Ipswich.
Entry forms to follow and the event may include a Veteran section.
Littleport Mini Age Bands Invitation on Sunday 11th March 2012 at Littleport Leisure Centre.
Players are banded in 2 groups by reference to age on the day.
Group 1 for 8 and 9 year olds from novice to 6th mon with Under 12 technical restrictions.
Group 2 for 10 and 11 year olds from novice to 6th mon with Under 12 technical restrictions.
There are no weight bands as players are pooled in a fair manner and all competitors receive a medal.
Cost, 10.00, (closing date 4th March 2012).

Ipswich Junior Age Bands Open on Sunday 20th May 2012 at Northgate Sports Centre, Sidegate Lane, Ipswich.

Littleport Junior Age Banded Invitation Championships on Sunday 1st July 2012 at Littleport Leisure Centre.
Players banded in 2 sections according to age on the day.
Group 1 - U12 section for 8 to 11 year olds up to 9th mon, orange belt, with under 12 technical restrictions.
Group 2 - U16 section for 12 to 15 year olds, any mon grade.
Cost, 15.00, (closing date 22nd June 2012).
Heart Of England Open on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th September 2012 at Walsall Campus.
Cost, 18.00 & 20.00 (closing date 20 August).

Littleport Youth and Senior Open Championships on Sunday 25th November 2012 at Littleport Leisure Centre.
This is a 3 star point scoring event and may be followed by a Dan Grading for 1st kyu & above.
Youth section for 14 to 19 year olds, all grades.
Senior Sections for Senior licence holders with 2 grade bands, Novice to 2nd kyu and 1st kyu and above.
Competition entry fee, 18.00 for 1 section, 20.00 to enter youth and senior sections, (closing date 16th November).
Grading fee, including dan grade levy, is 15.00, (payable on the day), Booking in at 1pm.

Entry fees are subsidised for club members so pass completed form to Ros or request cheque to send form and fee to the
address the address on entry forms. Valid licence must be presented at events so check expiry dates.
Some events only allow coaches to the mat if coaching pass is requested on entry forms.
Speak to Ray or Ros about availability before sending entry forms if you want coaching. Coaching fees are
reimbursed.
TRAINING
AREA TRAINING TOGETHER - 2012
The next Area Training Session is a Senior Training Session prior to the grading on Sunday 15th January 2012.
Unless stated, sessions are at Breckland Sports Centre, Thetford for all Junior and Senior players wanting to improve skills and gain an opportunity to train with players from other clubs under the supervision of different coaches.
ENGLAND SQUAD (formerly WORLD CLASS START PROGRAMME)
England Squad National Training dates for Pre-Cadets, Cadets, & Juniors are released after squad selection in October.
England Squad Area Training on selected Tuesdays at Happidojo, Shelford, Cambs. 8pm to 9.30pm. Mat fee, 5.00.
Next sessions led by David Southby on Tuesday 8th November 2011.
England Squad Area Training sessions are not restricted to England Squad players.
Area players over 11 years old and 7th mon can attend.
PROMOTION EXAMINATIONS
PROMOTION TO ALL MON GRADES & KYU GRADES TO 1ST KYU IS NOW THROUGH THE TECHNICAL GRADING SCHEME
NO CHANGE TO PROMOTION EXAMS FROM 1st KYU & WITHIN DAN GRADES WHICH REMAIN COMPETITIVE
AREA AND NATIONAL COMPETITIVE AND TECHNICAL PROMOTION EXAMS - Junior 9th Mon and Senior 1st Kyu & above.
East Area Competitive Gradings for 1st Kyu & Dan grades are at Breckland Leisure Centre, Thetford.
Next gradings on Sundays 15th January, 1st April, 8th July and 7th October 2012 at Breckland Leisure Centre, Thetford.
Registration is normally at noon on the day.
National Promotion Exams on Saturday 5th February 2012.
at High Wycombe Judo Centre, Barry Close, High Wycombe, HP12 4JE.
Pre Registration is advised as the cost is 13.00 if pre registered, or 15.00 on the day.
Booking in: 9am to 9.30am for all Dan grade men and women, 11am to 11.30 for 1st Kyu men and women.
Candidates for Technical Dan Grading must pre register. Cost is 15.00 and booking in is at 1pm.
2012 Competitive Grading for Men & Women 1st Kyu & Dan grades at Littleport Leisure Centre, Littleport
on Sunday 25th November 2011 subject to approval by the Eastern Area Committee.
Grading fee, inclusive of Dan grade levy, is 12.00 and payable when booking in at 1pm on the day.
The grading follows the Littleport Youth & Senior Open Championships and is open to all 1st kyu & above.
TECHNICAL GRADING SCHEME
General Information regarding Technical Grading Scheme.
Techniques up to 9th mon, 4th kyu (orange belt) can be taught and examined by the same qualified official.
Techniques for 10th mon, 3rd kyu (green belt) and above are taught by a qualified coach and examined by a qualified
assessor who cannot be the person who taught the techniques.
Club assessments are finalised on the last Tuesday each month so please speak to Ray or Ros when ready.
Cost of examination is 7.50 within the club but additional charges may apply to assessments outside of the club.
Technical Promotions to green belt and higher can be at the club but will normally be at other events.
